Day in the Life: Venture for America

Get an idea of what a VFA fellow does all day with first hand reporting from a recent alumnus.

Mike Wilner is a Venture for America fellow working at a startup in Detroit. His startup is located in the Madison Building downtown, a startup coworking space where the portfolio companies of Detroit Venture Partners are launching their businesses. The Madison building is at the center of Detroit’s entrepreneurial revival, with the space being featured in articles by Fast Company and Forbes, among others. Mike is working for a very early stage startup and is one of the first three employees. With such a small team, Mike works on every part of the business, from marketing to building the product to business development.

Mike Wilner graduated Washington and Lee last spring (’13) and was a double major in Business Administration and Mathematics. He was a member of Student Consulting and played on the Basketball team for two years. Mike will be back on campus in late October to hold an information session for Venture for America.
